Day Book — Money In, Money Out for Small Businesses
Bookkeeping for people who don't do bookkeeping — built mobile-first for Sri Lankan shops.
Day Book replaces the paper cash book. Owners start with the cash in hand and in the bank, then log money in and money out with a reason. Every reason becomes a ledger, and closing the day carries the balances forward.
The people using it are busy shop owners, not accountants. The app had to prevent mistakes without jargon — duplicate reasons, overdrawn accounts, forgotten day closes — and keep working on a patchy mobile connection.
IBN built a React 19 + TypeScript app on Firebase. Similar reasons are suggested as you type so ledgers stay clean, amounts are spelled out in words, several bank accounts and bank fees are supported, and entries save on the phone first and sync later. New sign-ups wait for admin approval, enforced by Firestore security rules.
