IBN Street VR Valentine's Challenge
From concept to wireless game in 4 days — then played by strangers on a busy Colombo street.
IBN set out to prove that high-fidelity VR could captivate a public crowd outdoors, completely wirelessly, with zero prior user base. The Valentine’s activation needed a custom game, a hyper-local marketing push, and authentic live feedback — all as a self-owned proof of concept.
Designing a game intuitive enough for complete beginners to pick up and play within seconds, while building brand hype from absolute zero on social media. The hardware also had to withstand bright Colombo sun and continuous use.
IBN developed a simple, gesture-based VR game in Unreal Engine 5 for standalone Meta Quest 3S, eliminating cables and PC dependency. Simultaneously, a multi-platform teaser campaign — including countdowns, flyers, and live player interviews — generated organic reach exceeding 85K views, turning a street corner into a destination.
