VR Kotta Pora – Avurudu Pillow Fight VR
Sri Lanka’s first VR pillow fight — from a retail street corner to a university carnival, now with live leaderboards.
What began as a festive activation for Cosmetic World’s Avurudu campaign became a reusable cultural VR experience. IBN built a standalone VR pillow fight game that mirrored the traditional ‘Kotta Pora’ game, first deployed on the street outside Cosmetic World to drive footfall. Later, with a live scoreboard upgrade, it was re-deployed at Colombo University’s 2026 festival, drawing even larger crowds.
Making a physical, often chaotic traditional game work in VR — safe, intuitive, and instantly fun for all ages — while standing up to outdoor conditions. The second run demanded a real-time web-based scoreboard that synced with the headset without adding complexity.
IBN developed a fast, two-player VR experience in Unreal Engine 5 for Meta Quest 3S, with simple swing-and-dodge mechanics. For the university relaunch, a live scoreboard web app was integrated, displaying real-time results on a screen for spectators, turning the game into a social spectacle.
